1963 Test Ban Treaty Anniversary Observed

BOSTON — Relatives of the late President John F. Kennedy and a group of Nobel Prize-winning physicians Friday marked the 25th anniversary of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, calling for a halt to nuclear weapons tests.
Kennedy’s niece and nephew, Ted Kennedy Jr. and Kara Kennedy, joined members of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War at a news conference at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. The treaty was signed by the United States and the Soviet Union on Aug. 5, 1963, and eventually endorsed by 115 nations, banning nuclear explosions in the atmosphere, space and sea, but not underground.
