Population of Asia Climbs to 3 Billion

TOKYO — Forty-seven minutes after midnight Wednesday, the population of Asia reached 3 billion, according to a report released by a group representing 19 Asian nations.
The report, released at the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, was based on data compiled by the United Nations.
