Cal State Fullerton Faces No. 12 West Virginia

Cal State Fullerton plays 12th-ranked West Virginia at Morgantown, W. Va., today, and Coach Gene Murphy said the Titans’ goals are to “get out of there in one piece and improve as a football team.”
The game is one Murphy refers to as a “guarantee game,” one scheduled because of the money the program earns for playing. Fullerton earned $200,000 in guarantees for games against Louisiana State and Florida last season and will earn $100,000 for this one.
West Virginia opened its season last week with a 62-14 victory over Bowling Green, the school at which West Virginia Coach Don Nehlen played and had his first job as a head coach.
Fullerton opened last week with a 24-9 loss to Southwestern Louisiana.
