Arson was the cause of a Thursday night blaze that destroyed 12 cars and a motorcycle in an apartment building carport, Anaheim fire officials said Friday. Damage was estimated at $110,000.
The fire erupted just after 11 p.m. in a carport at the Magnolia Plaza Apartments, 2560 W. La Palma Ave. The carport is detached from the 86-unit building, which was not threatened. There were no evacuations and no injuries.
Fire officials said no suspects have been identified and that the investigation is continuing.
Fire investigators said they also have no suspects in another arson blaze that was reported at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday at a gardening store at 1123 N. Euclid St.
Officials said several plant displays and ceramic statues at Nurseryland were vandalized before the fire was started in a wooden structure outside the main building.
Damage was estimated at $7,500. No injuries were reported. Investigators said the two fires do not appear to be linked.
