The Texas attorney general’s office has begun an antitrust inquiry into Texaco’s proposed sale to Saudi Arabia of a half-interest in certain Texas oil refining and marketing properties. The complaint was filed by Danny Davis, president of Texas Challenge Oil Co., who wants to block the sale on grounds it will give Saudi Arabia a monopoly from the wellhead to the gasoline pump.
