Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, banned for 2 years after testing positive for steroids at the Seoul Olympics, Thursday said that he’s thinking of a making comeback in time for the 1992 Olympics at Barcelona.
“I hope I can do it . . . It will take me 1 year to recover, if I am definitely stopped for two. I believe that 1992 (Olympics) will be something that people will never forget,” said the world 100-meter champion in an interview with Milan’s weekly magazine Europeo.
Johnson, interviewed at his home in Toronto, said he’s training 3 hours a day, including lifting weights.
The Jamaican-born sprinter, who was stripped of the 100-meter Olympic gold medal, claimed hard training and weightlifting--not steroids--were behind his impressive muscular growth.
