BOY MEETS GIRL

“Reel Life.” RCA. * 1/2
George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam--the boy and the girl in question--released a Boy Meets Girl album three years ago, and as tunesmiths-for-hire they achieved fortune, if not fame, composing two of Whitney Houston’s biggest hits. Fine. But now they’ve returned to their alter egos, dispensing Sominex treatises on the ups and downs and ins and outs of romantic relationships. There are a couple of decent lyrics here, but you have to wade through a vast wasteland of wispy sub-New Age fluff to reach them.
