49ers to Take On American University

LONG BEACH — The Cal State Long Beach men’s basketball team will play American University of Washington, D.C., at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the university gym.
The 49ers, who lost Tuesday night to Alabama Birmingham, 90-75, have a 2-6 record and have lost three straight games.
“I was disappointed, but I thought our team got better,” 49er Coach Joe Harrington said after the Birmingham game.
Center John Hatten led the 49ers against Birmingham with 14 points, followed by forward Rudy Harvey with 12.
The 49ers will open their Big West Conference schedule Tuesday night against Nevada Las Vegas in the university gym.
