Basketball Roundup : Northridge Women Win Easily in Texas

Julie Arlotto and Bridgette Ealy each scored 12 points Thursday to lead the Cal State Northridge women’s team to an 84-42 win over Texas College in a nonconference game at Texas College.
The Lady Matadors led, 40-10, at halftime and cruised the rest of the way.
“This was one of the best ballgames we’ve played this year,” Northridge Coach Leslie Milke said.
CSUN improved to 10-3.
Grand Canyon College 89, The Master’s 53--Inger Erickson scored 20 points to lead Grand Canyon in a nonconference game at The Master’s.
The Mustangs lost their seventh game in 8 tries despite the play of Laurel Hudgens (13 points) and Kim Vargas (11).
GIRLS
Bell-Jeff 42, Alemany 38--Sarah Dancs scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and led a fourth-quarter surge that lifted the Guards to victory in a San Fernando Valley League opener at Bell-Jeff.
The score was tied, 24-24, entering the final period, but Dancs, Bell-Jeff’s returning all-league guard, went to work and scored 8 points. For the game, she had 6 assists and 4 steals.
Andja Vucurevic added 7 points and 11 rebounds as the Guards (12-3) knocked off the defending league champion.
Alemany (8-5) was led by Andrea Hoffman with 17 points.
Oakwood 42, Yeshiva 22--Jennifer Grodin scored 12 points and Capucine Rubin added 11 to lead the Gorillas in a Liberty League opener at Oakwood.
L.A. Baptist 41, Montclair Prep 35--Kristen Hereema scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Knights (9-4 overall) cruised to an easy win in their Alpha League opener at Montclair Prep.
Hereema tallied 8 points in the first quarter, during which the Mounties (4-4, 0-1) were held to 2. Maria Cicione scored a team-high 14 points for Montclair Prep.
St. Genevieve 47, Chaminade 29--Sue Frink’s game-high 19 points went for naught as the Eagles fell in their San Fernando Valley League opener at St. Genevieve.
Christina Muller led the Valiants with 11 points.
