Gary Moss, fired as Sam Houston State basketball coach after the NCAA sanctioned him for violations allegedly committed while he was West Texas State coach in 1984-87, sued school officials and others, including Dick Schultz, the NCAA’s executive director, for allegedly violating his constitutional rights.
Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled, in a case filed against the NCAA by basketball Coach Jerry Tarkanian of Nevada Las Vegas, that it was impossible for the NCAA to violate one’s constitutional rights, holding that only a government agency could do so.
