Roundup : Alemany Girls Win 5th in Row in League Play

Andrea Hoffman scored 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Alemany High to a 60-46 victory over Bell-Jeff in a San Fernando Valley League girls’ basketball game Thursday at Alemany.
Hoffman, a senior center, made 11 of 17 field-goal attempts and scored 16 second-half points as Alemany (13-5 overall, 5-1 in league play) won its fifth consecutive league game.
Anne Sasadeusz added 11 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Sylvia Castaneda had 9 assists for Alemany. Andrea Vucurevic led Bell-Jeff (4-2 in league play) with 18 points.
In other girls’ basketball games:
Hart 75, Alhambra 35--Nicole Anthony scored 8 of her career-high 18 points in the first quarter for Hart in a Foothill League game at Hart.
Nikki Brodowy scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Sara Wilson added 14 as Hart (17-2, 6-0) won its seventh consecutive game.
Burroughs 57, San Gabriel 53--Senior guard Marya Vigil scored a game-high 25 points, including 2 free throws with less than a minute to play, to give the Indians (14-5, 5-1) a Foothill League win at San Gabriel.
La Reina 57, Carpinteria 27--Teri Fasching scored 13 points and had 10 steals and Amy Alarian added 8 points and 10 rebounds for La Reina in a Tri-Valley League game at Carpinteria.
La Reina (15-5, 10-0) is ranked fifth in the Southern Section 2-A Division.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Simi Valley 2, Thousand Oaks 0--Brian Weaver scored twice in the second half for first-place Simi Valley (19-2-1, 7-0-1) in a Marmonte League match at Thousand Oaks. Weaver scored his first goal unassisted and added the second on a pass from Joey Ramirez.
Simi Valley goaltender Dan Madsen needed to make only 1 save for the shutout.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Royal 3, Newbury Park 0--Goalie Kristen Rizzo posted her ninth shutout as the Highlanders won a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.
Tanis Schraml, Staci Blough and Stevie Campbell scored to give Royal (15-1-2, 6-0-1) its 16th consecutive win.
WRESTLING
El Camino Real 62, Granada Hills 6--Bryan McReady improved his record to 15-5 with a 10-1 decision at 138 pounds as El Camino Real dominated a Valley League match with 5 pins and 12 victories.
Harvard 37, Faith Baptist 33--Harvard’s Robert Rhodes extended his undefeated streak to 17 matches and the Saracens improved to 3-0 in San Fernando Valley League competition.
