A Sun Valley man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grand theft Tuesday night after he tried to run over detectives who were gathering information for a search warrant, authorities said.
Two Glendale detectives went to the home of Stephen Urquidez in the 7700 block of Shadycove Avenue about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to “scan out the area” for information to obtain a search warrant, Police Sgt. Mike Rock said. He said Urquidez, 26, is suspected of stealing an automobile in Glendale.
The detectives, who were in street clothes, were approaching the house when Urquidez, who had just driven up, backed into the street and tried to run over them, police said.
The detectives fired at Urquidez, who drove away, police said. He was apprehended about an hour later in the 2300 block of Cove Way in Silver Lake, Rock said.
Urquidez was being held without bail in the Glendale Jail.
