Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Charge Filed in Death of Motorcycle Officer
- Share via
The district attorney’s office filed a charge of vehicular manslaughter Thursday against a Diamond Bar man who was involved in an Oct. 16 accident that killed an Anaheim motorcycle officer near Anaheim Stadium, the defendant’s attorney said.
Steven Earl Davis was traveling westbound on Katella Avenue and making a left-hand turn into the employee-media entrance outside Anaheim Stadium when Officer Robert T. Roulston, heading eastbound on Katella, collided with Davis. Roulston died later at UCI Medical Center.
On that day there was a considerable amount of traffic because of a football game between the Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
Davis’ attorney, Paul Meyer, said that the charge only “compounds the tragedy” but that a court hearing will bring out all of the facts.
The misdemeanor count was filed by Deputy Dist. Atty. Thomas W. Privette, who could not be reached for comment Friday.
A date for an arraignment has not been scheduled.
