Barney Tobey; Longtime New Yorker Cartoonist

Barney Tobey, 82, a cartoonist for New Yorker magazine for 60 years. The New Yorker first published a Tobey cartoon Aug. 3, 1929. During the next six decades, he produced four covers and more than 1,200 pen and ink drawings, all signed “B. Tobey.” In New York on Monday of what was described only as a short illness.
