SPOKANE, Wash. — Matt Sayre, an Eastern Washington University quarterback, was in satisfactory condition after being shot during a weekend party.
Sayre, 20, underwent surgery to repair an artery in his right arm at Deaconess Medical Center after being shot early Sunday. Police were looking for two men who a witness said were acquaintances of someone at the party but were asked to leave when they became obnoxious. The men returned with a pistol and a rifle at about 2 a.m. and threw a rock through a window, said witness Kevin Oxreider. Shots were then fired and one hit Sayre, Oxreider said.
