Intel Corp.: The Santa Clara-based maker of microcomputer components, modules and systems said its first-quarter net income was $97 million, a gain of 3% over the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $713 million, up 12%. The company had expected a decline in net income and attributed the higher than expected results to cost controls, good factory performance and increased orders.
