The Glasnost Film Festival, a collection of Soviet documentary films touring this country, arrives in Southern California for a five-day run on Monday--May Day. Writer-producer-director Norman Corwin will moderate the premiere (at 8 p.m.) at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tuesday and Thursday’s programs will be at UCLA’s Melnitz Theatre, Wednesday’s at the American Film Institute, and Friday’s at UC Santa Barbara. The documentaries cover Stalinism, environmental disasters, alcoholism, cynicism in Soviet society and the alienation of youth, among other topics.
