“Beauty and the Beast,” CBS’ offbeat fantasy series about a man-beast living in the sewers of New York, has received a new order for 12 episodes from CBS to resume in midseason, said Republic Pictures Corp., which produces the series in association with Witt/Thomas Productions and Ron Koslow Films. “After two seasons in which 44 original episodes of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ were aired, the series continues to capture the imagination of a very loyal and significant audience,” said Republic Pictures president Russell Goldsmith.
