Despite the softening of vacancy rates in 114 San Diego County hotels surveyed by Pannell Kerr Forster, average daily room rates in April were $77.51, up 3.6% from the same month a year ago. Rates at the resort class of hotels increased at a faster rate, jumping 6.3% to $124.95.
Reflecting the completion of more than 2,000 hotel rooms over the past year, the firm said April vacancy rates at hotels that were surveyed dipped to 68.1%, down from 69.9% logged in April 1988.
