Joseph Duff, a wheelchair athlete, rolled across the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall, completing a 5,000-mile cross-country trip to raise money for the Miami Project, an organization for spinal cord research. The trip took 111 days and went through more than 400 towns.
Duff was met by New York Mayor Edward Koch, who placed a laurel wreath on Duff’s head.
