Anaheim : Man Fatally Shot in Fight; Suspect Held

A man was shot to death Saturday night in a long fight that began when he reportedly spilled food on a neighbor’s clothing, police said Sunday.
The victim’s name and age were not released pending notification of relatives, but officers said he lived in or near the apartment building where he was shot. The neighborhood is just west of Disneyland.
Martin Benitez, 19, of Anaheim was arrested on suspicion of murder a short time after the shooting, Anaheim Police Sgt. Chet Barry said.
Officers were called at 6:20 p.m. by residents of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of South Jeffrey Drive who reported gunshots being fired. Police found the victim lying on a curb.
Anaheim Fire Department paramedics treated the victim, who was then taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead, Barry said.
