A former manager of a San Francisco savings and loan has been charged with embezzling $3.47 million from customers’ deposits, authorities said. FBI agents arrested Richard A. Mariucci, 30, at his home in Riverside County on a 29-count indictment returned by a San Francisco federal grand jury. Investigators said Mariucci, who managed a branch of Gibraltar Savings & Loan, was suspected of pocketing money deposited by customers who thought that they were opening new accounts between 1985 and 1989. The alleged thefts were uncovered in April after Mariucci was fired as branch manager because of an unrelated incident.
