3 Gang Members Accused in Slaying

Detectives from the West Los Angeles anti-gang unit said Friday that they had arrested three gang members on suspicion of killing Wayne Hibbert, 22, who was shot to death near his Wilshire District apartment June 7.
Detective Bill Humphry said police arrested Lee Sprewell, 22, of Los Angeles; Lechea Taylor, 19, of Long Beach, and an unidentified 17-year-old girl during separate house raids early Thursday morning.
Humphry said that Hibbert was apparently killed during a robbery attempt and that his roommate was shot and left for dead about an hour later. The roommate survived the shooting.
Police said murder charges will also be sought against two other suspects, Norvel Sprewell, who is in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center on a federal narcotics conviction, and John Young, 22, who is still at large.
