Pernell Whitaker avenged his only professional loss and won the vacant World Boxing Council lightweight crown with a unanimous decision over Jose Luis Ramirez at Norfolk, Va.
Fighting before a hometown crowd, Whitaker defended the International Boxing Federation title he won in February with a unanimous decision over Greg Haugen.
