Frank Cashen, the New York Mets’ general manager, spoke with Davey Johnson, but there was no announcement concerning the manager’s continued employment.
Some reports Tuesday said that the team had decided to fire its manager of the past six seasons, but Met officials denied them. The Associated Press reported again Wednesday that the decision to fire Johnson had been reached.
Cashen declined to comment.
