TOKYO — Steffi Graf, enjoying the cold weather after last week’s heat wave at the Australian Open, swept by Nicole Jagerman 6-0, 6-1 today in the second round of the Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament.
It was the 48th consecutive match victory for the West German, coming off her third straight Australian Open women’s singles title.
“I played better than in the Australian Open,” said the top-seeded Graf, who drew a bye in the first round here.
Graf meets fifth-seeded Larisa Savchenko of the Soviet Union in Friday’s quarterfinals.
