American Express Co. today launched a British financial planning service called Acuma Ltd., which it hopes will serve as a springboard for similar operations across Europe.
Acuma Chief Executive Officer Frank Skillern said the company is planning 50 branches in Britain by 1992. The company is targeting its planning and investment services to households with an annual income of at least $34,000.
