Robert Russell Jacquet; Trumpet Player

Robert Russell Jacquet, 72, a trumpet player and singer, and brother of jazz saxophonist Illinois Jacquet. He had played regularly with his brother’s band since 1944 and briefly led his own group at the old Cotton Club in Hollywood. He also led jazz groups in San Diego and other Southland locales and later moved to Oakland before returning to Los Angeles, where he died Feb. 28 of a heart attack.
