LONDON — The Duchess of York rested inside a maternity hospital Saturday, a day after giving birth to her second daughter, the sixth in line to the British throne.
The 7-pound, 1 1/2-ounce girl was delivered by Cesarean section Friday evening in the presence of her father, Prince Andrew, Buckingham Palace said. The baby was in a breech position.
Saturday, crowds of photographers and well-wishers remained on a vigil outside to catch a glimpse of the baby, the second child for the 30-year-old duchess, the former Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Andrew.
No name was announced for the newborn princess.
