SAN FRANCISCO — An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Santa Ana lawyer suspected of jumping bail while awaiting trial on charges of masterminding a cocaine ring linked to drug lords in Colombia.
Josue T. Prada, 40, scheduled to go on trial May 22 in federal court, failed to report to authorities as required under the terms of his bail, U.S. Atty. William McGivern said Wednesday. The Drug Enforcement Agency said it was considering Prada a fugitive.
Prada, who was born in Bogota, Colombia, but now lives in San Jose, is accused of being the kingpin in California for a drug ring that allegedly imported up to 2,000 pounds of cocaine, worth as much as $16 million, every year.
