HIGH SCHOOL TRACK ROUNDUP : Alemany’s Barnum Wins Three Individual Events in Del Rey Championships

Alemany High sophomore Terry Barnum won three individual events and ran a leg on the Indians’ victorious 400-meter relay team to highlight the Del Rey League finals at Cal State Northridge on Friday.
Barnum took the 100 meters (10.6 seconds), the 200 (22.2) and the triple jump (41 feet 8 1/2 inches). He then anchored Alemany (43.7) to its second consecutive league title in the 400 relay.
Crespi’s Ryan Kieling won the 110 high hurdles in 14.6, then leaned ahead of Kevin Dal Ponte of Loyola to win the 300 intermediate hurdles. Both runners timed 39.0.
The top three finishers in each event advance to the Southern Section 2-A Division preliminaries May 11 at Gahr High in Cerritos.
GIRLS
Frontier League--Santa Clara freshman Taryn Tarver, sister of basketball standout Shon Tarver, raced to victories in the 100 and the 200 and also won the long jump at Nordhoff High.
Tarver timed 12.4 and 27.2 to capture the sprints, then leaped 17-0 1/4 in the long jump.
Agoura’s Deena Drossin won the 1,600 and the 3,200.
