MISSION VIEJO : Saddleback Names Dean of Admissions

Saddleback College has hired a top Los Angeles City College administrator to become the Mission Viejo campus’s dean of admissions, college officials said.
Gary Stakan, who is dean of administration at LACC, will join Saddleback beginning July 1. He replaces Herman Schmidt, who retired in November after 11 years as dean.
During his 16 years at LACC, Stakan has served as dean of admissions and counseling, assistant dean and an admissions counselor. He also has worked as a high school social sciences instructor in the Los Angeles area.
Stakan has a master’s degree in school administration and a bachelor’s degree in history and English from Cal State Los Angeles. He has a second master’s in educational psychology and counseling from Cal State Northridge.
