LETTERS IN VIEW : Backlash Against ‘Beaver’ Banality

I thought nothing could fill me with more rage than the junk-bond thieves, and then I have to read “Schools, Penney’s Having a Cow About Bart Simpson T-Shirt.”
Schools seem to despise recognizing the underachiever implications of Bart Simpson, but one suspects they really fear anything they haven’t taught--especially satire, and more especially satire the children understand.
How many millions (have been made) selling advertising T-shirts for fast-food and clowns? How much more will come about from the new passion for turtles?
It seems to be a battle of which fantasy has the right to numb the minds of the children--and Bart Simpson loses out to fast-food giants and huge movie profits.
