THOUSAND OAKS : Council Expected to OK Recycling Plan

The Thousand Oaks City Council on Tuesday is expected to approve a $17,640 agreement with three trash companies, which will begin collecting recyclable material from 3,000 residences July 16.
The agreement will begin the first phase of Thousand Oaks’ curbside recycling program, which has been in the planning stages since last year.
Although houses in portions of central Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Newbury Park will be targeted first, the program will eventually be expanded citywide.
Residents will be asked to place newspapers, glass bottles and jars, metal and aluminum cans and California redemption plastics in 32-gallon containers provided by the refuse companies.
The city will pay the companies $1.47 per house to pick up the recyclables.
