SHOOTING U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS : ’88 Olympian McNally Wins Gold in Rapid Fire Pistol Event

John McNally of Columbus, Ga., won the gold medal Sunday in the men’s rapid fire pistol event at the U.S. International Shooting Championships at Petersen’s Prado Tiro Ranges in Chino.
McNally, a 1988 Olympian, held on to first place throughout the National Rifle Assn.’s two-day event, finishing with a score of 1,453.
Roger Mar of Seattle and Eduardo Suarez of Ft. Benning, Ga., remained in second and third, respectively, with final scores of 1,448 and 1,443.
Competition resumes today with finals in men’s smallbore rifle three-position and the women’s air rifle.
There will also be first-day competition in men’s center fire pistol event.
