SIMI VALLEY : Man Charged With Kidnaping, Assault

Simi Valley police have arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of kidnaping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in the Civic Center area Wednesday night, authorities said.
Pedro Venegas of Simi Valley was being held Friday in the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, said Sgt. Bruce Watlington of the jail.
Police arrested Venegas at his residence about 2 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Neal Rein of the Simi Valley Police Department.
The woman had been talking at a pay phone Wednesday when a man pulled her into his car. She was taken to a secluded area southeast of the city and assaulted.
