Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman found in a ravine off Mountain Meadow Road in a remote area outside Escondido.
The body was spotted by a helicopter pilot flying over the area. California Highway Patrol officers were first to respond to the report of the partly clothed body of a woman found in the 27000 block of Mountain Meadow Road, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
He said the woman, believed to be 25 to 35 years old, was wearing a red blouse and had shoulder-length, dark brown hair. He said there were no obvious signs to indicate a cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled today.
Officers from the Metropolitan Homicide Task Force were called to investigate any similarities to the more than 40 killings in which the victims were stranged women found in remote parts of the county, the spokesman said.
He said no immediate correlations were found, and the sheriff’s homicide unit will continue the investigation.
