Ashton-Tate Will Close an Office: The troubled Torrance-based software publisher said it will shut down its Glendale software development office by Sept. 28 and reassign the 40 employees there to positions either in San Jose or at corporate headquarters. No layoffs are expected. The Glendale employees had been responsible for developing and testing the company’s database management program, its primary product.
