Belmont 17, Poly 8--Poly quarterback Lance Garcia completed nine of 11 passes for 141 yards and Jonathan Campbell scored the team’s only touchdown on a four-yard run as the Parrots dropped their opener at home.

Campbell’s touchdown run capped a 14-play, 77-yard Poly drive. Poly scored its final points in the fourth quarter when linebacker Peter Monarque blocked a punt into the end zone.
