Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday arrested a Los Angeles teen-ager suspected of fatally shooting a 68-year-old woman during a drive-by as she sat on the front porch of her Walnut Park home with her granddaughter in her lap.
Andre Bell, 19, was taken into custody at his home by deputies investigating the Aug. 16 shooting of Anna Owens, who was hit in the chest by a stray bullet while she held her 9-month-old granddaughter, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Rich Erickson. Owens’ granddaughter was not injured.
An assault rifle and a handgun were also recovered during the arrest, but Erickson said investigators are unsure if either of the guns was used to kill Owens.
Bell was booked on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail.
