COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : USC : Huskies’ Advantage Lasts All Season
- Share via
In the last season when an unbalanced schedule will be used in the Pacific 10, USC will play only three of its eight conference games at the Coliseum this fall, while Washington will play five of its eight conference games at Husky Stadium.
“That’s a heck of an advantage (for Washington),” said USC Coach Larry Smith, whose team will play the Huskies Saturday in Seattle.
Starting next fall, all Pac-10 teams will play eight conference games each season, four at home and four on the road, with each team missing one conference opponent, as mandated by the conference office, on a two-year basis.
USC, for example, won’t play Oregon State the next two years.
Linebacker Matt Gee, who ran for 23 yards out of punt formation on the last play of the first half Saturday against Penn State, was a fullback at Arkansas City High in Kansas, running for 831 yards and seven touchdowns in his last two seasons and averaging 5.0 yards a carry.
He had not carried the ball previously at USC.
