Locke 27, Verdugo Hills 0--Host Verdugo Hills (0-2) managed only three first downs and four yards in total offense. Locke (2-0) had three fumbles and 220 penalty yards but scored twice on punt returns and once on an interception.
The Saints, who advanced to the City Section 3-A Division semifinals last season, scored two touchdowns in each of the second and fourth quarters.
Defensive back Steven Martin’s 33-yard interception return set up Locke’s first score, and his 91-yard punt return two minutes into the fourth quarter gave the Saints a 21-0 lead.
