Great American Bank Chairman Out of Hospital: Robert Kemper, who collapsed during a special shareholders meeting Thursday to approve the sale of the ailing thrift’s 130 California branches to Wells Fargo, was due to be released from Sharp Memorial Hospital late Friday afternoon, an S&L; official said. Kemper underwent a series of “precautionary tests” after admission to the hospital Thursday, but the S&L; would not discuss the nature of the tests or the reasons for Kemper’s collapse. The 61-year-old Kemper “apparently fainted,” a spokesman said, and may be back at work Monday. Kemper, who took over the helm at San Diego-based Great American last July, takes medication for high blood pressure.
