Measures That Target the Use of Land
The Times characterization of Measure C as being for the community of Huntington Beach and Measure D for the developers of Huntington Beach was right on target.
Measure C earned its place on the ballot by hundreds of voters garnering thousands of signatures. Measure D-veloper earned its place on the ballot with hundreds of thousands of campaign contribution dollars.
Now we learn that the proponents of Measure D-veloper have gone public stating they want both measures to fail. The D-velopers wish to continue the current system by which the handpicked favorites of the City Council can continue to lease publicly owned parkland and public beachfront property for their private uses.
