JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — For the second time this year, Winnie Mandela has failed to appear in court to face charges involving alleged business irregularities, it was reported today.
A warrant for her arrest was issued Thursday when she failed to appear in a Johannesburg magistrate’s court on charges involving alleged failure to pay unemployment insurance for employees of her food shop, the South African Press Assn. reported.
The wife of African National Congress leader Nelson Mandela allegedly failed to pay contributions between January and August and also failed to file necessary documents relating to the insurance contributions.
A warrant for her arrest was issued in March for failing to appear in court on similar charges.
