Insider Trading Case Settled: The Securities and Exchange Commission said a former broker in Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co.’s Newport Beach office settled an insider trading case involving information in advance copies of Business Week magazine. Without admitting guilt, John Petit of Boca Raton, Fla., agreed to repay profits he made, plus fines--a total of $195,528. He will also be barred from the investment business.
