University of California undergraduate student fees for state residents would rise by 3%, or $49, to $1,673 next year, according to a proposal approved by the UC Board of Regents. The $1,673 does not include the price of room or board or extra student activity charges, which vary among the campuses. The regents also moved to increase tuition and fees for out-of-state students attending UC by 2%, to $8,217, in 1991-92. The increases must be approved by the Legislature and governor.
