Cinema Paradiso in New Cinemas: “Cinema Paradiso,” the foreign-language Oscar-winning film that closed its long Los Angeles run last week at the Goldwyn Pavilion, is no longer looking for a cinema house of its own. Miramax Films, which released the Italian movie starring Philippe Noiret, said Monday that “Cinema Paradiso” would open Wednesday at the Beverly Center and on Friday at the Monica in Santa Monica. Written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, “Paradiso,” which has taken in more than $12 million at the box office, this year became the second highest grossing foreign film released in the United States. “La Cage aux Folles,” released in 1979, has earned a reported $16 million.
