COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Master’s Upsets UC San Diego, 90-83

Led by Stu Epperson with a team-high 22 points, The Master’s College upset UC San Diego, 90-83, in a men’s nonconference basketball game at Master’s on Saturday night.
Master’s shot 57% from the field to hand UCSD, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III, its first loss of the year.
Tom Bruner scored 17 points and Ryan Farrell added 14 for Master’s (6-4).
Epperson made eight of 11 shots from the field and four of four attempts from the free-throw line to lead the Mustangs.
Tim Rapp scored a game-high 32 points for UCSD but made just 11 of 26 field-goal attempts.
UCSD fell to 7-1.
In other men’s games:
Cal Lutheran 91, Whittier 79--Jeff deLaveaga scored a team-high 31 points to lead Cal Lutheran in a home nonconference game.
Simon O’Donnell added 23 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for Cal Lutheran (4-3).
Cal Lutheran made eight of 14 shots from three-point range.
Oxnard 61, Palomar 46--Don Mitchell scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Condors (9-5) in a nonconference game.
Oxnard led, 28-20, at halftime. Andy Beltowski scored 11 points for Oxnard, followed by Shawn Talley and Tim Thomas with 10 each.
WOMEN
Moorpark 74, Grossmont 65--Amy Chandler scored 18 points and had 10 assists and Jeny Shotliff scored 15 and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead host Moorpark (12-1) in a nonconference game.
