Hudson’s Bay Co. Ends Fur-Coat Sales: The venerable Canadian chain, which grew rich trading furs bought from explorers and trappers who opened up the North American continent, said that its “Bay” stores will no longer sell the coats because the business is not profitable. The largest and oldest retailer in Canada made its decision for business reasons, not because of pressure from the anti-fur movement, a company official said. Hudson’s Bay operates 400 department stores.
